store-bought eggnog, brandy, cinnamon garnish
Before you give me grief about store-bought eggnog, it’s okay. I LIKE eggnog from a carton. Why bake cookies when you like Chips Ahoy? I’m sure homemade is 1000 times better, and I’m sure you have a recipe to share – it’s okay. I’m good.
So – spiking eggnog. I asked a few people what booze they put in eggnog, and they each gave me a different answer. And it wasn’t like they thought about it for a minute and decided on a spirit, they all were like this, “OMG, Staci, you have no idea. It is THE BEST.” After hearing each different booze was THE ABSOLUTE BEST, I decided to put them to the test.
Starting with brandy, because if you had asked me last Christmas I would have thought brandy is the only thing people put in eggnog. And it’s really good. The brandy is very smooth and it gives a nice bite. It is what I expected, I think brandy is a good starting point.
Tomorrow: dark rum!
I used Southern Comfort brand eggnog from the grocery store (there is no Southern Comfort in it), and 1.5 oz booze to 4 oz eggnog. I stirred it over ice, then strained into the glass and sprinkled it with cinnamon.
