Ranch Water

2 oz silver tequila
the juice of one lime
a slug of simple syrup (prolly a half ounce)
Topo Chico

I have this cocktail all the time, but I don’t normally photograph it. That’s because I have already made a Ranch Water in the Drinky-Drink Project. But people ask me all the time what my go-to cocktails are, and this is one of them for sure.

Let me just say this – Ranch Water is enough of a reason to buy cases of Topo Chico. Topo Chico is a very fizzy mineral water from Mexico, pretty popular here in Texas. I use Topo for this cocktail, and I also keep it around because I usually have one with my lunch (on its own, no tequila).

Ranch Water is refreshing and simple. Not too boozy, ice cold. Pretty in the glass with some lime slices…it’s like Texas’ answer to the Aperol Spritz.

Oh! One note. Most Ranch Water recipes do not include simple syrup. That’s my personal addition…a little sweetness really brings out the freshness of the silver tequila and lime for me.
