This is another cocktail I wanted to try because it seems like a bunch of weird-ass ingredients thrown together. ⁣

This is a modern cocktail, from a book first published in 2011. Something I’ve learned from looking through new cocktail recipes – they tend to have several ingredients in one drink. I think this is because the two- and three-ingredient cocktails have all been done before, and those are the classics. Modern mixologists explore with lots of varied ingredients to keep the basic flavor balance of classics, while creating something new.⁣

All that said, this is a very well-balanced cocktail. It packs a flavor punch! You know how Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is super-extra flavored? This cocktail is like that – quite sweet, quite tart, with a strong boozy note. Someone put a lot of thought into this one, all of those weird-ass ingredients work well together. ⁣
