Pendennis Club

gin, apricot liqueur, peach liqueur, simple syrup, lime juice, Peychaud’s bitters⁣

I found this recipe in the Death & Co Modern Classic Cocktails book, a simpler version of the recipe is available on diffordsguide.com. The recipe I followed had me making a “Pendennis Mix” of apricot liqueur, peach liqueur, and simple…then that mix was one of the ingredients in the actual cocktail. The Difford’s Guide recipe just uses apricot liqueur. I can safely say that this is my first time making a PRIMARY cocktail that is used as an ingredient for the SECONDARY (and final) cocktail. I felt like a mad scientist, there in my kitchen.⁣

This weekend is all about the cocktail! Not that I’ve been drinking them, this is my first. But I decided a few weeks ago that I want to revisit both bartending school and mixology school, so I’ve been making my way through all of the lecture videos from BarSmarts, then I’ll move on to A Bar Above Mixology. (Both schools allow you to revisit the content for life.) ⁣

It was a good decision, and it is fun! So much of the information was overwhelming to me when I first heard it. Now, with more time and experience under my belt, I’m absorbing the information again. I’m really just listening to the lectures while I knit.⁣

In the mail today I got two books – the Death & Co book I mentioned above, and Cocktail Codex by the same folks. Beautiful, coffee table books, full of detailed and useful information. My little brain is going to explode this weekend! In a good way.⁣ 🧠

Forgot to mention – this is a delicious cocktail, first published in 1908. I think I’ve loved every single drink that uses apricot liqueur. ⁣
