This recipe is from Hendrick’s Gin.
gin, muddled pear, lemon juice, simple syrup (I used sweetened pear nectar in place of the simple syrup)
I got pears in my produce box this week, so I went in search of cocktails that might use them. This drink is simple enough…pretty standard gin + tart + sweet, shaken and strained into a cocktail glass.
But muddled pears are kind of a mess. First off, they don’t impart much flavor, even though I used pear nectar in place of simple syrup. Second, they totally gum-up the strainer, making it impossible to get any liquid from the shaker. I had to stop pouring, bang the strainer against the sink, pour another tablespoon, repeat.
I don’t hate this drink, I just don’t love it enough to want it again.
