Moscow-A-Go-Go

1.5 oz vodka
1 oz dried plum infusion/liqueur (see below)
1 oz lemon juice
.5 oz simple syrup
Splash of soda
mint sprig

I made a dried plum (prune) infusion to try in cocktails. I really like dried plums, and they are so sweet – I wondered if the sweetness would carry through. So I cut up dried plums and left them in vodka at room temperature for four days, giving the mixture a little shake once a day.

The result is more of a liqueur than an infusion, because the result is sweet. Maybe shy of a normal liqueur, but sweet. And very tasty!

A little playing around with proportions and ingredients, and I came up with this cocktail. (I got help with the name from my friend @sevenlefts.) The dried plum liqueur takes on a whole different flavor when lemon juice is added. The lemon juice makes it almost taste berry-like? I’m searching for a good description here…sort of a mystery fruit, but no longer dried plums.

I’m making a second, maybe I’ll get a better grip on a taste I can compare it to on the second one.
