Lovelace Martini

I found this recipe on haveacocktail.com.

gin, vodka, triple sec, Lillet Blac⁣

“Is thy face like thy mother’s my fair child! ADA! sole daughter of my house and heart?” Those are the words of Lord Byron, father of Ada Lovelace (née Byron), to his daughter. I quoted Lord Byron there, but Ada Lovelace has her own notable history. She was born in 1815 and is believed to be the first person to publish a computer algorithm, and is regarded as one of the first computer programmers.⁣

I couldn’t find any history on this cocktail, other than it is named after Ada Lovelace. But Ada and her brilliant mind give us plenty of history for today.⁣

This is my first cocktail using Lillet Blanc. I didn’t know what to expect, but to my surprise, it is actually a wine. A French wine that is fortified with citrus liqueur, and also mixed with herbs and spices. I’d say the main flavor is citrus. ⁣

Back to the cocktail. I should know this by now…any time a drink has “martini” in the name, it is mostly booze, and it will knock you on your ass. This one is especially dangerous, because it goes down very smoothly. Even with nearly 1/3 gin and 1/3 vodka, there is almost no boozy bite. Delicious and dangerous.⁣
