I found this recipe on drinksfeed.com.
vodka, lime juice, bitters, tonic
This drink was accidentally invented by a bartender in 1978 who was trying to make a different drink, messed it up, and came up with this instead. I read about Long Vodka being really popular in Scotland, then a few days later, a friend in Scotland recommended the drink for the project.
I had never heard of this cocktail before, and there it was, suddenly all over the place.
Like that bartender, I had a different drink in mind today…but I decided I needed something really refreshing. It is so terrible and muggy here in Austin, and the air quality is currently “unhealthy” because of the Saharan dust storm. As in, we aren’t even supposed to spend much time outside today. This drink is just what I wanted.
It is refreshing and light. And the bitters gives it a kick of savory that I don’t think I’ve had in other vodka drinks. I’ll put this on my list of drinks to for sure have again.
