I found this recipe on liquor.com.
Oh, boy – get ready for the ingredients: vodka, rum, tequila, gin, triple sec, simple syrup, lemon juice, cola
It’s totally like 80s Week, fer sure! I’m taking a break from learning about sensible classic cocktails and diving in to the world of bright colors, weird sexual names, and boozy milkshakes.
This is another one I remember that was still popular in the 90s, when I was old enough to drink. My friends and I would plan a night out dancing (we were swing dancing every weekend) and Long Island Iced Teas were a popular drink choice.
We were all on tight budgets, and Long Island Iced Teas were kind of one-and-done, very budget friendly. My friends would tell me, “You should try it! You can’t even taste the booze and you only need one drink for the whole night!” I stuck with beer, my favorite at the time was Pyramid Apricot Ale. I’m sure I tasted a Long Island Iced Tea back then, but I don’t remember.
What a weird drink! Where does all that booze flavor go? Honestly, it tastes like a citrusey tequila drink – where is the rum, vodka, and gin? I would expect this to taste nearly as strong as a martini, since there is really only a splash of soda. It does not.
I almost hate to admit it, because this drink has a kind of trashy reputation…it is good. It is really tasty. And if there was still a way to go out swing dancing in the year 2020, I might just order one.
