Kodiak

I created this cocktail! Recipe below.

gin, yellow Chartreuse, simple syrup, bitters, soda⁣

I graduated bartending school today, which has given me the confidence to celebrate with my first published drink. (You can work through the material as quickly or slowly as you like, I chose to work non-stop for four days.)⁣

This is a riff on an Alaska cocktail. I made it a long drink with a little more sweetness, and I named it Kodiak because that is my hometown. I live in Texas, but my whole family lives on “the island”. Kodiak is a fishing community south of Anchorage.⁣

Kodiak is also warm and “tropical” compared to the rest of AK, which is why I chose a hurricane glass.⁣

I am very happy with how it turned out! It’s a long drink with a lot of flavor from the Chartreuse and a nice bite of gin. ⁣

Kodiak⁣
2 oz gin⁣
3/4 oz yellow Chartreuse⁣
1/2 oz simple syrup⁣
2 dashes orange bitters⁣
soda⁣

Combine everything except the soda in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain over fresh ice in a tall glass and fill to the top with soda. Express the oil from a strip of lemon peel over the drink before serving, and garnish with lemon peel. ⁣
