King’s Jubilee

I found this recipe on diffordsguide.com.

rum, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice⁣

This drink was created in 1935 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V, by the bartender at the London Savoy Hotel. ⁣

This drink reminds me of Daiquiris and Hemingway Special for this reason – they are unlike other rum drinks. When I think of typical rum cocktails, I think beach and tiki drinks with tropical fruit and umbrellas. 🍹 This is more like a gin drink, and it doesn’t even taste like rum. I think that’s the maraschino liqueur.⁣

It is very yummy, and simple to make with just three ingredients, provided you have maraschino liqueur in the house. I’ve never had a home bar before this project, but maraschino liqueur seems like the kind of thing that isn’t super common for a home bar. Rum, yes. Maraschino liqueur – maybe you got a bottle for Christmas last year.⁣ 🌲
