I found this recipe on diffordsguide.com.
rum, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice
This drink was created in 1935 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of King George V, by the bartender at the London Savoy Hotel.
This drink reminds me of Daiquiris and Hemingway Special for this reason – they are unlike other rum drinks. When I think of typical rum cocktails, I think beach and tiki drinks with tropical fruit and umbrellas. 🍹 This is more like a gin drink, and it doesn’t even taste like rum. I think that’s the maraschino liqueur.
It is very yummy, and simple to make with just three ingredients, provided you have maraschino liqueur in the house. I’ve never had a home bar before this project, but maraschino liqueur seems like the kind of thing that isn’t super common for a home bar. Rum, yes. Maraschino liqueur – maybe you got a bottle for Christmas last year. 🌲
