gin, Aperol, grapefruit juice, lime juice, simple syrup⁣

I found this recipe in Unvarnished by Eric Alperin, it is attributed to Alex Day from Death & Co.⁣

I was looking through the drink recipes in this book, and “APEROL” jumped off the page. It’s chilly in Austin today, and even though it’s only 54 degrees, I’m wearing long pants and socks and thinking back nostalgically to days in flip-flops and shorts. Days when I sat on the patio with an Aperol spritz. I miss Aperol days.⁣ ☀️

But this cocktail gives me a good reason to use it again! The garnish listed in this recipe (written for bartenders) reads “Garnish: High five to your guest”. Now you understand why I set up the photo as I did.⁣ 🤚

It is very yummy. The balance of sweet, sour, bitter, and gin bite are spot on. What a treat. I’m going to have another. ⁣
