I found this recipe on thespruceeats.com.
gin, Chambord, lime juice, ginger ale
The history of this cocktail is very cute. In 1900 there was a musical comedy called Floradora playing on Broadway in New York. At the after-party, one of the women in the cast asked the bartender to make her “something new”. He came up with this concoction for her, and named it after the show.
This drink is bright and refreshing, but I don’t love it. On this journey of learning about cocktails, I’m learning my likes and dislikes as well. I don’t think I love Chambord. It’s too sweet and fruity…just not what I want when I sip a drink. Given a choice, and from what I know so far, I’ll choose a bitter or herby liqueur, like Campari or Chartreuse. Or even St-German, which is sweet, but has a lot more going on.
When I finished this pretty drink, I didn’t make a second…I got a clean glass and made myself a bourbon rickey (bourbon, lime squeeze, soda) and grew some hair on my chest.
