Elder Ginger Drink⁣

gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, fresh ginger, Fever Tree Ginger Beer⁣

This recipe appeared in my email today, from Kim who follows both VeryPink Knits and Drinky-Drink Project. Very nice of her to share. The drink is delicious, I knew I’d love it when I read the recipe! ⁣

Kim learned this recipe while visiting Mauritius, an Indian Ocean island nation. She was visiting her daughter and daughter-in-law while they were doing humanitarian work. They enjoyed this cocktail, and she asked for the recipe. The bartenders at The Four Seasons did better than that – they invited her behind the bar for a tutorial! Recipe below.⁣

Elder Ginger Drink⁣
40 ml Gin⁣
20 ml Elderflower liqueur⁣
20 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice⁣
1/2 tsp crushed ginger pulp (we grate it on a microplane, they used a mortar and pestle)⁣

Place above into cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled martini glass. Top off with an ounce or so Fever Tree Ginger Beer (we don’t substitute other brands).⁣

Drink as is or garnish with zest, ginger coin, pink peppercorns or a dash of ground pepper. ⁣

I’ve already emailed Kim and thanked her very much for sharing. This cocktail is a treat. It’s the first time I’ve used pepper in a drink that isn’t a bloody mary…pepper and ginger go nicely together.⁣
