Dolly O’Dare

I found this recipe on mixology.recipes.

gin, dry vermouth, apricot brandy, orange peel⁣

Recipe is from The Savoy Cocktail book, and is also available on several websites.⁣

Dolly O’Dare was a comic book detective 100 years ago. There isn’t a lot of information about her online, but there are a few pages of comics showing her fighting crime in a dress, heels, and a matching hat. From Fandom.com, “Dolly O’Dare is a hard-boiled police detective. Her nemesis is ‘the sinister Baron Blue and his subtle system of larceny and murder’. Blue, a gentleman thief, is initially successful in his crimes but always driven off by the clever and tough O’Dare”.⁣

I have no idea why this drink is named after her, but it is very boozy, very pretty, and very tasty. I might lighten up on the vermouth next time…with equal parts gin and vermouth, the gin is a little overwhelmed. ⁣
