I found this recipe on diffordsguide.com.
vodka, dry vermouth, St-Germain, Yellow Chartreuse, mint
Wow, this is delicious. It’s herby and bitter and sweet, and goes down very easily. I’m sipping while I type, mmmm. Very well balanced cocktail.
I’ve been waiting to try this cocktail until I could replace my bottle of dry vermouth (I replaced both sweet and dry recently.) Just like I did with the sweet, I did a taste test with the dry. I took a sip from the new bottle – it tastes predominately like white wine, with some floral and bitter notes. Then I braced myself and took a sip from the old bottle. I made a terrible noise and spit it into the sink. It was sooooo bad. 😖
The lesson is this – refrigerate your vermouth and give it a taste test after six months to make sure it’s holding up. Both of my vermouths spent months outside of the fridge, and they were both about a year old. Don’t do what I did. I also found half-bottles that should go more quickly without spoiling.
I forgive myself for letting the vermouth go bad because this cocktail is so nice. 🍸
