The drink I’ve been waiting to try until Halloween, The Corpse Reviver. In The Savoy Cocktail Book, the text under the recipe says, “Four of these taken in swift succession will unrevive the corpse again”. ⁣😂

Its name comes from the fact that this cocktail is thought to be a hangover cure, thus “reviving the corpse”. Calling a mixed drink a “corpse reviver” appears in literature as early as the mid-1800s.⁣

This is exactly the gin drink I was hoping it would be. It has all of the herby/complex flavors of a typical 100 year-old gin cocktail, plus the bit of orange sweetness from the Cointreau. I can’t say whether or not it will wake the dead, but it has put a smile on the face of this living soul. 👻
