Brandy Crusta

I found this recipe on liquor.com.⁣

brandy, triple sec, lemon juice, simple syrup, maraschino liqueur, bitters⁣

In this project, I’ve mostly tried drinks that I like, a few that I REALLY disliked, and a handful that I love. This is one of those “love” cocktails. Woweeee, it is so good! ⁣

Brandy Crusta is a drink out of New Orleans, first published in 1862. The “crusta” part is named for the sugar on the rim. You might think I went off the deep end with the garnish on this one…but this is the traditional presentation. A wide sugared rim, and either a wide lemon peel sticking up from the glass or a long “horse’s neck” of lemon peel.⁣

The recipe calls for brandy, but I’m thinking it would be just as good with bourbon. I’m willing to do a taste test to find out. ⁣
