I found this recipe on liquor.com.
bourbon, lime, sparkling water
The Rickey (usually bourbon or gin) is simple – just booze, sparkling water, and lime. The Bourbon Rickey came first, but Gin Rickeys have become more popular in modern times.
The drink is named after Col. Joe Rickey in 1883, who usually had a bourbon and soda in the morning. One day, his bartender added a rejuvenating squeeze of lime to his eye opener. And so the Rickey was born.
Sometimes called “air conditioning in a glass”, Rickeys are considered by some to be the perfect warm-weather drink. It is currently 89 degress here in Austin, and…yeah. I’d agree with that. This is the first bourbon drink I think I’ve ever had in my life, and I didn’t expect it to be as refreshing as it is. Also in the photo, Topo Chico. A super fizzy sparkling water. One of my knitting friends dropped off some Topo Chico for my birthday yesterday, knowing that they would be nice for this project.
