Alpine Spritz

I found this recipe on stevethebartender.au.

sparkling wine, St-Germain, club soda; garnishes: rosemary, mint, orange slice, lemon slice (I also added the optional ingredient of Lillet Blanc)⁣

This spritz is also called a Hugo, and originated in Tyrol, Austria as an alternative to Aperol Spritz. ⁣

I’m always excited to try cocktails that allow me to go out into my garden with some shears to harvest the garnishes. (“Harvest the Garnishes”, new folk band name. 🪕) Anyway, after a morning of cleaning up that garden and getting hot and sunburned, a low ABV refresher was a good choice. ⁣

I already knew that I would like sparkling wine, St-G and Lillet Blanc together – knew it without even trying it yet. And they are great together. But the real brilliance of this drink is the garnishes. The scent of the rosemary and mint are so fresh that I can imagine drinking this on a balcony at a summer resort in the Alps. ⁣🏞

A girl can imagine, right? In reality, I’m in my backyard in Texas during a pandemic and my passport is currently useless. Ah, well. ⁣
